Boys State/Girls State Meet and Greet, Lapoynor High School 5/8/23

American Legion Post 85 and Auxiliary Unit 85 Boys State/Girls State had a Meet and Greet. at Lapoynor High School.This year Post 85 will be sponsoring 5 High School Junor boys from Lapoynor High School in Larue, Texas. Ashley Faucett school Secondary Counselor was the spear head for the school. We would like to thank her and those who assisted her Superintendent Marsha Mills, Principal Donna Jeffus and Student Council Sponsors- Tara Kinabrew & Kim Storey.Our 2023 Boys State delegates are Jonathan Freeman, Jackson Young, James Smith, Mateo Garcia, Landon Wilson. We look forward to hearing their experience upon their return this summer.

This year Post 85 Auxiliary Unit 85 will sponsor 4 High School Junor girls also from Lapoynor High School. Sponsorship made possible thru a grant provided by the Sumners Foundation Grant and American Legion Auxiliary Foundation Grant.Our 2023 Girls State delegates are Harmony Watts, Lakota Ramsey,Delaney Taylor, and Shadayia Eldridge, we look forward to hearing their experience upon their return this summer.  

We also would like to thank the 2023 Post 85 Boys State Committee Chairman Garrett Moynihan and Auxiliary Unit 85 Girls State Committee Chairperson Kathy Evans who made this year a great success.
